The best part of this video is the beginning. I got a little freaked out when it flew directly at me. I disturbed it when I was working in my garage. It was motionless, so I made a nest for it in a plastic jar. Came out chirping, although I couldn't hear it! Seemed to make a full recovery!

You may remember this post of the praying mantis laying her egg sac on our hemp. Then I found a caterpillar burrowing into it. I collected the sac (removing the caterpillar) and placed it in a half-pint jar. Today we discovered they had hatched! We have about 100 baby mantids. Ba-by mantids do-do da do-da do-do da.
